HOW DO I RENEW MY LICENSE?

License renewal is available online. Visit http://www.nrec.ne.gov/licensing-forms/logininfo.html to renew your license. Note that online license renewal is available only during renewal periods (typically November through January). However, you can visithttp://www.nrec.ne.gov/ at any time to verify the status of any real estate licensee or company.

Additional renewal information can be found on the Nebraska Real Estate Commission website.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO RENEW MY LICENSE?

Active licensees are required to complete 18 clock hours of education every two years.

Continuing Education Component

At least 12 hours of the 18 must be in continuing education activities approved by the Commission.  Of these 12 hours, at least 6 hours must be in designated subject matter. These courses are indicated with the letter "R" in the four-digit course content number that is assigned to the course. (See Meeting the Designated Subject Matter Requirement for more information.)

Duplication of Continuing Education Prohibition

Continuing Education Credit will not be granted when activities or substantial activity content is duplicated within 4 years. However, "R" courses are an exception to this rule and may be duplicated in subsequent continuing education periods but NOT in the same continuing education period.  The course content number is used to determine duplication of content between courses i.e. don’t take the same number within 4 years.

Commission - Approved Training Requirement

As stated above, real estate licensees who wish to maintain active licenses will need to complete 18 hours of education.  Licensees may take up to 6 hours of Commission-approved Training toward the 18 hour requirement every two years. You may substitute Continuing Education activities for all or part of the 6 hours allowed for Commission-approved Training. [Please note:  while continuing education activities will meet the Commission-approved training requirement the reverse is NOT true; Commission-approved training will NOT meet the continuing education requirement.]

Property Management Requirement

Three hours shall be required in each two year period in a property management course or courses approved and designated by the Commission as meeting this requirement for all licensees who provide property management services during such two year period, or who supervise a licensee or licensees who provide property management services during such two year period. These Property Management courses are indicated by four-digit course numbers which end with a "PM".

Team Requirement

Three hours shall be required in courses on teams or team leadership which are approved and so designated by the Commission for all team members, team leaders, and designated brokers who supervise teams within 180 days after being designated a team member or team leader. Or, in the case of a designated broker within 180 days of the creation of any team under the broker’s supervision.  One of these courses, indicated by the number 1000R, must be taken every four years.

WHEN DO I RENEW MY LICENSE?

The Nebraska Real Estate Commission requires license renewal every 2 years. For example, if you received your license in a even year (example: 2016), your license will need to be renewed in 2018- (the following even year). If you received your license in an odd year (example: 2017), your license will need to be renewed in 2019 (the following odd year).

CAN I CARRY OVER HOURS FROM ONE LICENSING PERIOD TO THE NEXT?

No.

HOW MUCH OF MY 18 HOURS CAN BE ONLINE HOURS?

A maximum of 18 hours may be taken through online courses.

WHAT DO I DO WITH THE CERTIFICATES I RECEIVE FROM TAKING A COURSE?

You do not have to turn in your certificates when you renew your license, but you do have to have them on file in case you are audited by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission. Certificates for classes taken through Nebraska REALTORS® Association are kept and can be viewed at any time by logging into your account..

The Nebraska REALTORS® Association keeps track of all my education hours for me, right?  No, the Nebraska REALTORS® Association keeps track of classes offered by the Association and its educational partners only. There is no central bank of information where your class records are kept.

HOW DO I GET COPIES OF MY CERTIFICATES IF I HAVE LOST THEM?

You can print your certificates from any classes offered by the NRA or its Educational Partners by logging on to My Account. For non-NRA sponsored courses, you must contact each school that sponsored the course. For example if you took 3 courses from the Nebraska REALTORS® Association - we would have those records. If you took a course from a private business or broker- you need to contact the private business or broker, etc.

It is your responsibility to keep track of the courses you have taken and from which school where the course was offered.
