Home Buyer's Assistance Foundation
The Nebraska REALTORS® Association’s Home Buyer’s Assistance Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission to increase affordable, adequate, and decent housing for all first time home buyers in Nebraska, with an emphasis on low and moderate income individuals and communities. It also works to offer housing disaster relief to communities affected by a natural disaster.
First-Time Home Buyer Grants
The foundation awards a $250.00 grant to select first-time home buyers in an effort to enhance the success of home buyers in maintaining home ownership. Grant recipients will be selected by the Board of Directors of the foundation, and must have used the services of a REALTOR® and completed home buyer education through REACH or online education approved and required by NIFA to complete the closing of the purchased property. One grant is awarded per household, and recipients must reside in Nebraska. Applicants can get the grant applications through their REACH affiliates upon completion of the REACH education.
Check out this video on how easy it is to apply for the First-Time Home Buyer Grant.
Home Buyer Education
Home buyer education is an important step in producing an informed consumer, and home buyers who partake in home buyer education are better equipped to sustain home ownership and less likely to foreclose. The foundation helps to subsidize the costs of home buyer education through the Readiness Education Awareness Collaborative for Home buyers (REACH) program.
